The release contains several Boolean modifier improvements, including a new caching method, support for normals, and various bug fixes.
New Boolean caching method
A new caching method has been added to the Boolean Modifier. Boolean result meshes are now saved with the scene file, which makes subsequent loading of boolean scenes up to 7x faster.
Note: To take advantage of the new caching method, your scene must be saved with the Boolean Modifier improvements included in 3ds Max 2024.1.
Support for normals
The Boolean Modifier now fully supports smoothing groups, specified normals, and explicit normals that can exist on input boolean operands. When these types of operands are used in the boolean operations, the smoothing and normal data contained in the operands is now processed and included in the boolean result meshes created by the modifier.
Note: When a mixture of smoothing groups, specified normals, and explicit normals is used, all of the data in the boolean operation is converted to explicit normals.
